QUICK LINKS TO VOLUNTEER RESOURCES
Family & Consumer Science Teachers
Have a classroom of students you'd like to sign up to participate as helping hands? We'll provide sewing kits and instructions free of charge. You have your students sew satchels for credit and return to us on completion. To request kits, email us here: admin@satchelsofcaring.org
Helping Hands organizations, committee members and friends meet at various community and committee events to select, cut and assemble sewing kits using coordinating fabrics, cording, trim and buttons donated by local commercial interior design firms. These kits are then sent to area high schools, colleges, and sewing clubs to be assembled. When complete, a custom tag reading, “Made especially for you by Satchels of Caring Foundation” is sewn into each Satchel.
Fabric Dimensions
For volunteers wishing to use their own fabric, the following dimensions should be used to cut the necessary fabric pieces:
Body(1): 24" x 14"
Straps(2): 20" x 4"
Band(1): 8" x 14"

Ribbon Flower Embellishments
Click here for a simple tutorial to make ribbon flower embellishments. A great project for Girl Scouts or other groups of young students. If you can sew a button and cut ribbon, you can make one of these!
